The five-piece Duran Duran formed in 1978 in Birmingham, England, and took over the music scene shortly after the decade began. Locked and loaded, they were poised to occupy the same space Rolling Stones had occupied during the Eighties.

The Duran’s opened with Invisible, the minimalist, the new album Future Past, which portends good things to come in new music. It is a prelude to the new single Anniversary, a pop banger that doubles as a tribute to the forty years that have passed since the Duran’s first album was released.

From the Ordinary World, The Durans offered up another new song, another bouncy dance-rocker called Tonight United, in the year 2021. Bassist John Taylor said, to a resounding yes from lead singer Simon Le Bon, and the Duran Duran left the stage one last time. Simon Le Bon and John Taylor of Duran Duran performed Friday at Hollywood Bowl.
