The Bridgerton actress reveals which sibling will be the centre of season three, leaving fans perplexed. We weren’t anticipating anything like this!
Bridgeton actor Simone Ashley has revealed which Bridgerton sibling will be the centre of season three, and fans are baffled.
Simone teased that the upcoming season, which will begin production in the summer, will focus on Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton, and Penelope Featherington, played by Nicola Coughlan of Derry Girls fame.
She told People, “I think we’re transferring the torch to Nicola and Luke.” “I’m really looking forward to seeing them perform their love tale and seeing what they’ve got planned.”
“They’re going to knock it out of the park, in my opinion. “I’m ecstatic for them,” she continued, adding that she’s “a little bit nervous.” “It’ll be a relief because the rest of the season won’t be so reliant on her. Instead, she and Anthony actor Jonathan Bailey will remain on the programme while another love story takes centre stage.
Season three, according to Simone, would centre on Benedict and Penelope’s love story.
Fans, on the other hand, have been left perplexed by Simone’s remark because they were under the impression that the series would continue to follow the storyline of author Julia Quinn’s books and thus naturally move on to the third instalment, An Offer from a Gentleman, which focuses on Benedict’s love story with Sophie Beckett.
One admirer took to Reddit and wrote: “What’s going on?! Benedict’s storyline will be skipped in favour of Colin’s?” Another person stated: “Wow, that was unexpected. This is going to be fascinating!”
Season three was supposed to portray Benedict’s love story, according to fans.
Another expressed disappointment at the prospect of not meeting Benedict’s love interest in the upcoming episodes. They stated: “Sophie was one of the people I wanted to visit. So that’s a bummer. But, at the very least, we get to see Kathony again in season three.” “I guess I’ll have to wait a little longer to see Kate connecting with Sophie, sigh,” a fourth wrote.
Not all fans, though, were dissatisfied. One Polin supporter wrote: “YEAH! This makes me ecstatic!”
Another person added: “Benedict was meant to be next, but I’m not a book reader (yet). But, as a fan of the programme, I think Polin should come next, and then… if they’re only doing four seasons… which is a possibility… Eloise and?”
