The Gartner Group was founded in 1979 by Gideon Gartner. Originally a private company, the group became publicly traded for the first time during 1980s. The London-based advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi acquired it only to sell on again 10 years later after some of its executives and funding from Bain Capital and Dun & Bradstreet created their own version of this technology consulting firm called ‘Garton’. In 2000 they simplified them name to just ‘Garth’ when they developed what is now known as Supranet.”
