During the Emmy Awards last night, The White Lotus star Jake Lacy stepped forward to present the trailer for A Friend of the Family, a limited series coming to Peacock. A Friend of the Family Trailer

A Friend of the Family
Peacock

The trailer for A Friend of the Family shows that the series takes place in the 70s, a time when predators roamed much more freely than they do now, and people were more unsuspecting. Lacy stars as Robert Berchtold, a man who had his eyes on the young daughter of the Broberg family who were close to him and trusted him deeply. They even left their children under his care on several occasions and the children loved him.

The real victim of the incident, Jan Broberg, is a producer on A Friend of the Family. She is played by Hendric Yancey (Stranger Things) and McKenna Grace (Gifted, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) and spoke about it through a statement, which also serves as the show’s synopsis. It stated that most predators are actually people we know, those that can build trust, special friendships, and are able to cause separations between family members psychologically. The story promises to make watchers cry, get angry and talk, because many have had such experiences.
