Wednesday season 2 release date, cast, plot, trailer and everything you need to know

This arc of the Addams Family has long been welcomed by society, and it is no shock that their eldest child Wednesday was honored with a special spin-off. Christina Ricci captivated viewers with her eerily charming portrayal in Barry Sonnenfeld’s films which made Wednesday an iconic figure. When 2019 came around and the franchise went animated, Chloë Moretz graced our presence as Wednesday once again – this time lending her voice to bring life to the beloved character.

Netflix recently released a new, enigmatic series focused on the mysterious moody Wednesday Addams. The show offers an abundance of strange and delightful moments as well as some iconic monochrome fashion choices accompanied with memorable dance moves while Wednesday investigates who is attacking the people in Jericho. Fans of the Addams family can’t miss out — prepare to be thrilled by this unmissable mystery series!

Wednesday served us a tantalizing cliffhanger with its finale, leaving audiences everywhere to debate who sent the cryptic message. Although we can only theorize at this point, nothing but another season of Wednesday will answer our burning questions and satiate our curiosity. Can it be? Will there in fact be another Wednesday installment?

Here’s everything we know about Wednesday season two.

Wednesday season 2 release date: When’s it back?

After a seemingly never-ending 10 weeks of anticipation, Netflix has finally confirmed the glorious news: season two is on its way!

To mark this momentous occasion, they released a special video featuring Jenna Ortega (playing Wednesday) and snippets from season one. In it she exclaims: “I’ve been hunted, haunted and mimicked over millions of times across the internet – pure torture. Thank you!” Hallelujah indeed – fans everywhere can rejoice in celebration!

Taking the form of Lady Gaga’s ‘Bloody Mary’ (which has become a sensation on TikTok), Netflix made an announcement: “We’ve got more in store for you. The worldwide phenomenon is coming back with season two.”

That’s it — no date, no details, just the commission. But it’s fine for now.

Miles Millar, co-creator of Netflix’s TUDUM series Wednesday expressed his excitement in a recent interview: “We’ve been humbled to see how our show has resonated with so many people globally! We are thrilled and ready for an equally thrilling journey into the second season. There is no question that we look forward to diving deep again into the eccentric world of Nevermore; hopefully Wednesday hasn’t gone swimming in the pool first!”

In December, Netflix’s Head of US & Canada scripted series Peter Friedlander expressed his enthusiasm to Variety about the immense levels of involvement from viewers: “It’s encouraging and exciting to see how much engagement there is!”

“We are pouring all of our energy into how people desire to come to Netflix and finish these shows, then talk about them. Engagement is what we want! It’s more than just dancing–people want to dress up like Wednesday Addams too! The comeback has been here for a while but never this profound. We need to research why it’s become such an overwhelming phenomenon.”

When news emerged that Amazon and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) had merged, there was widespread speculation about where Wednesday season two would be broadcast. However, we rightly debunked this theory as no substantial evidence existed to support the claim – Netflix remains the exclusive home for Wednesday!

Wednesday season 2 cast: Who will be coming back?

It’s only natural for Wednesday and Thing to make their grand return for a second season, so it was no surprise when Ortega announced that she would be reprising her role. Additionally, Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White) is also likely to join the team once more; even after his amorous feelings towards Wednesday were unrequited in Season One, he might just have a chance now that Tyler is out of the picture!

Or is he? Our Wednesday’s ex-boyfriend, now antagonist, was last seen being held captive at the end of season one. His deep growl may suggest that a breakout is near and Hunter Doohan will surely reprise his Hyde role for the upcoming season two. We cannot wait to see what he has in store!

We anticipate the Wednesday season two cast to be complete with the following:

• Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair

• Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay

• George Farmer as Ajax Pertroplus

• Naomi J Ogawa as Yoko Tanaka

• Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin

• Luis Guzmán as Gomaz Addams

• Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams

• Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams

• Fred Armisen as Uncle

Christina Ricci’s Ms. Thornhill, although unsuccessful in achieving her goals during the first season of the show (more on that below), could potentially make a comeback as she has much more to offer. Moreover, Gwendoline Christie’s Larissa Weems might have met an untimely demise but there was something rather mysterious regarding it which makes me believe she may be able to come back. After all, considering how commonplace resurrection is in this world and taking into account the fact her story arc never really seemed to reach its full potential before coming to an abrupt end, anything can happen!

Thankfully, the popular series The Sandman was renewed for a season two, though this may result in potential scheduling issues if star Tom Ellis (who portrays both Lucifer and Weems) is unable to continue his double role. Let’s cross our fingers that isn’t the case; we need him as both characters! Unfortuntely, Doctor Kinbott met an uncertain ending after Riki Lindhome’s character suffered from severe injuries from her altercation with Hyde—most likely making it impossible for her return in season two.

Wednesday season 2 plot: What will happen?

IIn a recent interview with Variety (published Jan 30), Emma Myers who portrays Wednesday’s werewolf roommate Enid Sinclair, divulged that “anything is feasible in the program.” Additionally, she disclosed her personal expectations for Season Two while responding to those wishing they could see Enid and Wednesday together.

“We haven’t truly talked about instructions at all so I’m uncertain what the strategy will be,” Myers notified the publication. Nonetheless, it appears that anything can occur!

When it comes to Wednesday’s love life, this is what Dove had to say: “I feel like for the second season she should take a break and embrace her singleness. After all that’s happened between her and all those men, I’m sure anyone would be discouraged from dating again.” If you’re looking for more plot direction? There were plenty of unaddressed stories left wide open at the end of Season 1.

Wednesday’s agonizing revelation that her beloved beau was naught but the beast wreaking havoc on Nevermore is no pleasure to bear. To add insult to injury, he was under Ms Thornhill’s control – a spiteful conformist with an axe against those who did not fit in. A double-blow of betrayal for Wednesday indeed!

We have no doubt that Tyler is gone from Ms. Thornhill’s command and will soon show up in Wednesday’s life, but what role he plays is still unknown. Will Tyler be an ally or a force to be reckoned with? Only time will tell!

Hunter Doohan, the actor playing Tyler in the show, is positive that his character was able to escape law enforcement.

While pondering which iteration of Tyler we might see in the upcoming season two, Doohan’s comments regarding his initial arc provide some insight. “I think he was being controlled by Miss Thornhill,” said Doohan. “He had to manipulate Wednesday for their plan and he did it exceptionally well.” If this is true and Tyler really was under someone else’s influence, then there could be potential for redemption – if only he can break free from Ms Thornhill’s grasp!
