Get ready to see Princess Diana’s entry
Netflix’s hit series The Crown will be returning with its fourth season. The show, which stars Olivia Coleman in the lead, will start streaming from November 15.
The news had been announced through a 30-second clip, in which Queen Elizabeth II, played by Coleman says, “Something as important as the monarchy simply cannot be allowed to fail.”
The new season will be introducing Margaret Thatcher, played by Gillian Anderson, and Princess Diana, played by Emma Corrin. In the clip, we see Diana in her wedding to Prince Charles, played by Josh O’Conner.
What’s new this season?
Fans of the show are very excited as both Thatcher, nicknamed the “Iron Lady” and the U.K.’s first woman prime minister, and Princess Diana will be arriving. Anderson is of course, a veteran actor, and as for Emma, this is going to be her first major role. The 23-year-old actress spoke about how she’s beyond excited, and being honoured to be joining such a great show.
“I have been glued to the show since the first episode and to think I’m now joining this incredibly talented acting family is just surreal. Princess Diana was an icon, and her effect on the world remains profound and inspiring,” Emma stated, in an interview with People.
We will be seeing how Diana’s arrival affected the royal family, and showrunner Peter Morgan will be revealing it all through the show, without holding back. The Sun reported that this could ruffle a few feathers. Season four will be taking place after the Queen’s 25th Jubilee in 1977 and is very likely to start from Charles meeting Diana. It’s also going to show the strained relationship between the Queen and Thatcher. The break-in at Buckingham Palace is also going to be shown.
