The series is in its early process, but Kit Harrington is attached to return

Jon Snow is returning! The iconic Game of Thrones character played by Kit Harrington will have the rest of his story told. A series about the character’s adventures is in development at HBO, with Harrington also attached to return. The character was introduced right at the start of Game of Thrones in 2011. After it wrapped up in 2011 with season 8, the network has already signed on for prequels and other expansions. The one that fans are currently looking forward to is House of the Dragon, the ancestors of Jon Snow, or Aegon Targaryen.

About Jon Snow

Jon Snow
HBO

Jon Snow was a key part throughout the series, and even with the ensemble cast, he often felt like the main character. Originally believed to be the bastard son of Ned Stark, Jon went from interesting points to interesting points, and even died in season 5. However, he was revived thanks to Melisandre. Towards the end, he had no choice but to kill Daenerys Targaryen, and as a result, got banished from Westeros. He went north, far beyond the Wall with the other Wildlings, and was seemingly at peace.

But peace is never an option for someone like him.

Why It Is Special

Jon Snow
HBO

The reason why this series deserves special attention is because it’s the first direct sequel of Game of Thrones. All the other shows that are in development, including 10,000 Ships and 9 Voyages are prequels. By the end, many of the characters that were alive chose to remain in Westeros. Since Jon left, he can start a new story in a new place. George R. R. Martin has created a massive world, Jon Snow can have his own successful series, with opportunities for other beloved characters to return.
