The nineteen year old, Willow Smith was not able to accept her natural hair while she was young. She revealed this thing on 27 May episode of the Red Table Talk. The Wait a Minute singer said about this subject when her mom Jada Pinkett Smith, grandma Adrienne Banfield Norris, and family friends Mia and Madison were discussing about colorism. Wednesday’s show of the facebook watch series had this as a subject.

A definition of the subject was played at the beginning of the show. It actually meant “discrimination or prejudice based on skin tone, from members of the same race.” Willow disclosed that one big struggle for her when she was a child was her hair. It always seemed as a problem for her. She used to watch her sister’s hair and think that she would look so much beautiful if her hair would have been like hers. And wouldn’t have been so kinky. She also wished her hairs to be a bit longer than it was.

After some while Willow’s mother pointed out the reason for her to feel such. She said that the only thing valued globally is the approximation to white. However, now Willow wears her hair so proudly and she no more feels bad about it. Even in the show she was with her original hair. However, some days after the episode was shot she shaved off her head.

The shaving of Willow’s hair was done by her boyfriend and music partner Tyler Cole, 21 on 12 May 2020. It happened at the time of “The Anxiety”, which is basically a name for their 24-hour exhibit at The Geffen Contemporary at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles.
