The crossover episode to air before the premiere of the spin-off series.
The spin-off series of Riverdale, Katy Keene, is set to mark its arrival on 2nd February 2020 on the CW but ahead of that, ardent and excited viewers of the show will get a special crossover episode of the two shows. Though very few details have been unraveled about the episode so far, People managed to get the First Look.
In the crossover special, Lucy Hale playing titular character Katy Keene will join the Riverdale for a guest appearance as Katy has come to meet her long-time best friend, Veronica Lodge played by Camila Mendes. The two characters seemed engrossed in a serious discussion as they were sitting in a bar, holding hands while chatting.
The executive producer of the show giving a little insight, previously told that Veronica would return to her old stomping grounds of New York City, where she runs into her old friend, Katy Keene.
The announcement for the crossover episode was made in December and it was again made by Aquirre-Sacasa on Twitter, where she wrote, “The news is out! Veronica’s going to NYC and #Katykeene is coming to Riverdale! So excited for our first #Archiverse crossover!!” He even shared a little glimpse of it.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, the producers had informed that before Katy Keene officially premieres, the team thought it would be super-fun to do a crossover that took Veronica to Katy’s world which is New York City and establish Katy’s part in the Riverdale universe.
For the very first Riverdale and Katy crossover, Aguirre-Sacasa and Grassi added, “we couldn’t be more excited that it’s old friends Veronica and Katy — Cami and Lucy — having fun and heart-to-hearts!”
The Riverdale spin-off series follows a tale of a young aspiring fashion designer who is trying to make it in the big city. The star cast apart from Hale includes Ashleigh Murray, Jonny Beauchamp and Julia Chan in character roles.
And Katy Keene is certainly Riverdale spin-off but according to Hale, it is “tonally a lot different.” As per her, Katy Keene is brighter as it chronicles the lives of four friends who are optimistically trying to make their dreams come true in New York City.
