Has the Punisher cancelled by Netflix?
After just a run of two seasons, Netflix has confirmed that it is canning the series. The show’s second season aired back in January, and after some speculation from fans about the show’s future, Netflix has put any hopes of a third chapter to bed.
Why was the show cancelled?
Netflix has not given any explanation behind cancelling the show. But our conjecture is that Netflix got a contract with Marvel in 2013 when it was in dire need to make a name in the streaming service. Netflix has proven that it is more than capable of creating hit shows on its own.
Consequently, they have taken down the majority of the Marvel series. It has been reported the viewership of the Marvel series on Netflix has declined over the period and since Marvel shows are tremendously expensive to produce, it seemed fitting to take down the host of these Marvel shows.
So, will we see another Punisher show in the future?
Netflix has cancelled the show but there’s always Disney+ now, a brand new streaming service launching later this year, which is set to feature a whole raft of Marvel films and series, some of which are pretty exclusive, while some are likely to have characters that we have seen before. This leaves room for Marvel shows like The Punisher to return.
The Punisher season 3 cast: Who might return?
Jon Bernthal was amazing Frank Castle, we don’t see any other actor playing the role on Disney+ or any other outlet. Other lead members of the cast such as Amber Rose Revah may return as Dinah Madani, as well as Jason R Moore as ‘Curt’ Hoyle.
