The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel arriving this February with season 4
Amazon Studios has announced the renewal of their hit comedy-drama, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and released a poster and teaser. Rachel Brosnahan returns as Midge, who wants to do more than just be the opening act at comedy clubs.
Amazon has also announced the release date of the new season. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4 will premiere on Friday, February 18th, with two new episodes dropping every Friday for the next month.
The story so far
The story starts in 1958 and follows Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a young, upper class Jewish American housewife who lived on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Her husband Joel works as a businessman at a plastics company and also did gigs as a comedian at night. However, he copied material from popular comedians, often resulting in mediocre performances. After one such performance, he blames it on Midge, and leaves her for his secretary whom he had been having an affair with.
In a sad and drunk state, she went to the Gaslight Cafe where Joel performed, and did her own stand-up comedy. While it earner her applause, she flashed at the audience and got arrested. Her cellmate was comedian Lenny Bruce, who inspires her to begin her own career in comedy.
Season 4 teaser
The teaser has Midge having a discussion with her manager Susie (Alex Borstein) and demanding new, and better gigs. Midge no longer wanted to be the opening act, but instead, say whatever she wanted. She tells Susie to make her a headliner, and when Susie reminded her that businesses don’t work that way, Midge says, “Then let’s change the business.” Susie will have a fun time with this, that’s for sure.
The teaser has increased the excitement for the trailer and anticipation for the arrival of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s season 4 next year
