About A Discovery of Witches
A Discovery of Witches is based on the All Souls trilogy written by Deborah Harkness. The first season was named after the first book in the trilogy. The series was produced by Bad Wolf and Sky Productions.
The first season of A Discovery of Witches, consisting of 8 episodes was premiered in the UK on Sky One on 14 September 2018. In November 2018, Sky One renewed the series for a second and third series. They will follow the second and third books of the trilogy namely, Shadow of Night and The Book of Life.
A Discovery of Witches features Diana Bishop who is a historian and reluctant witch. She accidentally discovers a bewitched manuscript in Oxford’s Bodleian Library. This forces her back into the world of magic to solve the secrets it contains about magical beings. She receives help from a mysterious geneticist and vampire, Matthew Clairmont.
In spite of age-old mistrust between witches and vampires, they team up to protect the book, solving the mysteries hidden within while dealing with the threats from the creature world.
The Release Date
After the announcement of the series, we can expect the series to come by 2020 itself. The director A Discovery of Witches said that shooting of season 2 will begin in July of this year.
The Cast
Diana Bishop and Matthew Clairmount will be featured in the second season. Along with them Sara Bishop, Owen Teale, Emily Mather will be the part of the series. In addition, some new faces are expected to join in season 2.
