The ‘Lover’ fame, Taylor Swift has set yet another record. She has again hit the top position of the US Billboard with her sixth album on number one in the US. Taylor Swift is the first female artist to sell over 500,000 copies of an album in a single week.
Taylor has been breaking her records. According to Billboard, in the first week of the release of her album ‘Lover’, the sales went to 679,000 copies. This is the largest sale of any album by any artist to the date. The last record was also made by Taylor for her album ‘Reputation’.
She has made herself the artist with the most ‘number one’ albums for this decade, in terms of Irish.
In the Irish Singles Top Chart 50, Taylor Swift has appeared 31 times, outdoing her peers like Ariana Grande, Rita Ora, and Katy Perry.
The singer has been in Top 10 on 12 occasions. This includes her being on number 4 spot four times. All of her hits except for one of them have made in Top 5. ‘You Need To Calm Down’ made to number five this year whereas ‘Lover Story’ from 2008 bagged number three position.
Taylor Swift had topped the Irish chart by being on number one position in 2017 with her album ‘Look What You Made Me Do’.
Not only her singles, her collaboration with Ed Sheeran, ‘Everything Has Changed’, charted higher in Ireland than anywhere else. After the song was performed by the duo, it reached number five in Ireland which was 27 places higher than the US chart and two places higher than the UK chart.
An overwhelmed Taylor took to Twitter to thank her fans for all the love they have showered. In the video posted she said, “I just have to say to you guys, thank you so much for one of the best weeks of my life. I can’t thank you enough.”
