Taylor Swift tops Forbe’s 2019 list of highest paid women in music

Forbes ranks Taylor Swift as the highest-paid woman in music in its 2019 list. The ranking was made by tracking all the earnings generated between June of 2018 to June of 2019. Swift pulled in USD 185 million pretax in this one year to top the list.

Most of Swift’s wealth this year came from her reputation stadium tour, which itself grossed a record of USD 266 million. She also signed a new nine-digit deal with Universal’s Republic Records. And after her rocking VMAs 2019 performance, her new album Lover released last week, which is going to add further gold to her stock.
As Forbes puts, the list measured the pretax income of the personalities between June 2018 to June 2019, without deducting the salary for managers and lawyers.

This success of Swift reflects how much difference a decade can make. Just ten years ago, Swift was known as a mere upcoming country singer. She was interrupted by Kanye West at the MTV Video Music Awards. While this year Swift was also the most nominated act at the 2019 Video Music Awards.

Since 2009, Swift’s fortunes have increased heavily and continuously. In 2009, she could earn the only USD 18 million in comparison to her interrupter’s USD 25 million. Over the decade, Kanye averaged USD 35.2 million, while Swift has averaged USD 82 million.

Other famous music personalities on the list are Beyoncé with USD 81 million and Rihanna with USD 62 million. Although what is most notable is that there is a difference of more than $100 million between the first and the second position.
