Star Trek – Discovery Season 3 [exclusive updates]: check out release date, cast, plot and more details.

Can’t help but rejoice because Star Trek: Discovery season 3 is on its way and it’s official!
The news about Season 3 was officially confirmed in January 2019, exactly when the Season 2 released.

WHEN IS SEASON 3 GOING TO AIR?

The series was ready for an April release but then the dynamics changed. Like many other series which were ready for a 2020 release, Star Trek Season 3 release has also been postponed. Owing to the predicament of the global crisis caused by Pandemic COVID-19, Star Trek: Discovery‘s release date cannot be determined right now.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE UPCOMING SEASON?

Here’s what Jonathan Frakes has to say about Season 3:

Discovery feels to me like my home show now. We’re far in the future now and Burnham has been separated from the crew, and then they reunite. I was talking with Sonequa… I said to her, ‘This character is so appealing and interesting and complicated, and always has been, but there’s a little more joy [now].’ She said to me, ‘Because Burnham is now no longer driven by fear and guilt.’ I thought, ‘Wow.’ ”

On being asked about how it feels to enter a new time period in the show, Alex Kurtzman told Hollywood Reporter, “We love playing within canon. It’s a delight and a privilege. It’s fun to explore nooks and crannies of the universe that people haven’t fully explored yet. That being said, we felt strongly that we wanted to give ourselves an entirely new energy for season three with a whole new set of problems.

We’re farther than any Trek show has ever gone. I also had experience working on the [J.J. Abrams] films where we were stuck with canonical problems. We knew how Kirk had died, and we wondered how we could put him in jeopardy to make it feel real. That’s what led us to go with an alternate timeline; suddenly we could tell the story in a very unpredictable way. That’s the same thought process that went into jumping 950 years into the future. We’re now completely free of canon, and we have a whole new universe to explore.”
