The next addition to the Sopranos saga might be a TV series!

The Many Saints of Newark, a James Gandolfini-led iconic mob drama featuring the Sopranos world, premiered on October 1, 2021. It also dropped on HBO Max on the very same day. Although the feature film didn’t perform well at the box office, it emerged among the top ten viewed series on the HBO Max streaming service.

According to Ann Sarnoff, CEO of Studios and Networks, WarnerMedia, this seems to have “‘The Sopranos’ popping into the top ten of viewed series on the service has given it an entirely new life.” She then expressed that the company is excited about the optimal results of the feature. In a recent interview, Sarnoff revealed that they’re talking to David about a new series, Sopranos related on HBO Max. She also revealed that they haven’t yet decided if the prequel will be a TV series or a film. However, according to her, the Sopranos prequel series is a riveting possibility.

David Chase says, only a prequel will be possible

As per the sources, the creator of the film David Chase revealed in an interview that a revisit to the Sopranos world only occurs in the form of a prequel to the film. Irrespective of being a series or feature film, the possible story will take place in the 60s and 70s while the original film occurs in the 90s. He also added that it would be best if he and Terence Winter wrote the prequel story together.
