‘Snowpiercer’ Will End on TNT With Season 4

The series is based on the 2013 movie by Bong Joon-ho

Snowpiercer is coming to the end with season 4, to the dismay of many. The TNT series came out in May 2020 on the network, and was an adaptation of the 2013 film by Bong Joon-ho. The show starred Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs in the lead, and maintained the thrilling and scary atmosphere of the dystopian thriller.

A TNT spokesperson confirmed the news in a statement, saying Snowpiercer is indeed ending. The person praised the writers, cast, and crew, saying they took an extraordinary premise and brought it to life in thrilling ways. The series went on to get a huge fanbase, and became a worthy entry into the post-apocalyptic genre.

The series takes place in the iron-clad train, Snowpiercer, and is a globe-trotting adventure of a group of survivors. The series introduced Sean Bean in season 2, as the owner of the train and primary antagonist. In season 3, Clark Gregg (Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD) and Michael Aronov (The Americans) joined the cast. Paul Zbyszewski (Helstrom) became the new showrunner. Bong Joon-ho’s film starred Chris Evans, Song Kang-ho, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer, and Jamie Bell. It drew inspiration from the 1982 French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, written by Jacques Lob.

The series was one of the only remaining scripted originals of TNT. The network, along with TBS and TruTV are owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. Ever since the company’s massive merger in April, the networks faced risk of losing shows. And sure enough, Snowpiercer, the dating show The Big D, and others had to leave. HBO also said no to J.J. Abrams’ series Demimonde due to budget issues.
