Watch out, rich people
Rosamund Pike is back with another exciting new project. The Wheel of Time actress is all set to star in Rich Flu, a story about a deadly virus. As per a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Spanish director Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia is set to direct. The movie will be produced by Pablo Larraín, who previously directed the Princess Diana biopic, Spencer.
As per the official synopsis, Rich Flu is a fictional disease that makes its way through the wealthiest people in the world. It starts by killing billionaires, then millionaires, and makes its way through the chain of power until those who are less fortunate suddenly find their lives threatened. The virus is now threatening to hunt down anyone with any sort of fortune. As humankind as a whole is in threat of extinction, markets start getting flooded with assets that people no longer require. It will be a story that explores what one will do to save his own skin when the wealth that runs the world suddenly becomes the very thing everyone should avoid.
Gaztelu-Urrutia has previously directed the sci-fi horror film The Platform in 2019. It also discussed the conflicts that could arise out of inequal wealth distribution.
Pike’s recent roles
Since the movie is in its early stages, we are not certain if Pike will play one of the rich people getting haunted by the virus, or a scientist who is out to discover a cure.
The actress was last seen in Amazon’s fantasy series The Wheel of Time. She had previously received Oscar and BAFTA nominations for Gone Girl, and won the best actress Golden Globe for I Care A Lot.
Principal photography on Rich Flu is scheduled to begin in Fall of 2022.
