The season four of Riverdale is all set to release. With the show around the corner, the makers have decided to dedicate the show to the one of its part, late Luke Perry. The former Beverly Hills 90210 star started the show by playing the character of Archie’s dad, Fred Andrews. Luke Perry passed away in March this year.
Fred Andrews is one of the most beloved characters of the show universally. He had appeared in almost every episode of the series since its inception in 2017. The season four’s first episode, “Chapter Fifty-Eight: In Memoriam” had Luke Perry has the original cast. But the actor died of a massive stroke at the age of 52.
The first pictures from the episode are out already. The photos show Archie, Betty, Jughead, Veronica all coming together as they head into their senior year. There is also a picture of Archie and his mom, Mary Andrews who share an emotional moment who presumably dealing with the death of Fred.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Roberto Aguirre, the show creator and showrunner said that “We had the table read for it about [two weeks] ago and I’m not going to lie, we were all crying,” he said. “But we think it … honors the memory of Luke [and] it honors the memory of Fred. They were both such amazing human beings that we wanted to craft an emotional and deep tribute to him, which is what I hope this episode is.”
Perry was last seen in April in Riverdale. Absence of Fred hasn’t been addressed on-screen yet but soon it will be. The show creator said that as a gesture of respect they would wrap up Fred’s story in the show.
The season four of Riverdale premieres on 9th of October, 2019 on The CW.
