The first season will adapt Riordan’s first novel, The Lightning Thief. We first got to see it adapted in the 2010 movie starring Logan Lerman as Percy. The movies were enjoyable, but never got to cover the whole thing. The novel is about the young demigod being accused of stealing Zeus’s lightning bolt. Percy and his friends have to across America to clear his name and maintain order on Mount Olympus.

Lerman played Percy brilliantly, but was still a bit old for the role. Percy is 12 years old, and Scobell fits the age better. His skill at comedy was also established in The Adam Project, an integral trait for Percy. We are now further waiting for the casting announcement for the other characters.
