“One of us isn’t gonna be here for long”
The BBC has released the official trailer of the sixth season of Peaky Blinders, and it looks fantastic. It had been announced over a year ago that the award-winning series will be ending with season six, and some of us are not ready to say goodbye, since we can never get enough of the badassery of Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy). However, we will be getting a movie after this, with production scheduled for 2023.
Tommy and his seasoned family of businessmen/ outlaws have always faced a fair amount of odds in each season, and have faced death in the eye multiple times. But stakes are higher than ever this time as Tommy’s fight against Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin) is far from over, after they failed to assassinate Mosley at the end of season five.
The season 6 trailer of Peaky Blinders has gunshots ringing at the start and end, with Tommy’s gritty voice saying, “One last deed to be done,” indicating the last stand between the Shelbys and Mosley and his fascist party. In between are glimpses of the supporting characters such as Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson), Michael Gray (Finn Cole), Gina Grey (Anya Taylor-Joy), Ada Shelby (Sophie Rundle), Lizzie Stark (Natasha O’Keeffe), and Alfie Solomons (Tom Hardy).
The late Helen McCrory, who played Polly Gray was missing in the trailer, and we are not sure how her character will be explored. Many sources are saying that she had filmed her scenes already, and hence we can expect her to appear.
What to expect?
In an interview with Variety, creator Steven Knight gave fans a hint on what’s to come in Peaky Blinders season 6. He said that we will see Tommy continue to battle fascism in any way he knows best, and that dealing with that subject awakens something in Tommy that had been lying dormant. He now has an idea of good and bad, and he will spend his life fighting against the bad.
Peaky Blinders season 6 will release sometime in early 2022.
