Japanese light novel-based fantasy drama, Overlord, has been renewed for season 4. But there is an aura of suspense written all over the internet over season 4.
The anime is produced by Madhouse, written by Yukie Sugawara and we will expect to see the usual 13 episodes. 9 volumes of the original manga were covered till season 3. And we expect the anime to pick up from the 10th volume of the anime. Season 3 of the show came on July 11, 2018, with thirteen episodes. The show is set in 2126, wherein a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game is set to shut down after its 12-year run, the guild leader in the game. Momonga stays behind until the servers of the game are finally turned off, but to his surprise, the game hasn’t vanished at all and instead, it appears as if the game has been reconstructed as its own reality along with its several characters having been brought to life.
Momonga is trapped in the form of his game avatar of a skeletal overlord, leaving him unable to use the normal player functions like seeing the general message or to log out. With no options left, Momonga starts a journey to learn if anyone from the real world is also in this new world with him.
Official Release Date of ‘Overlord Season 4’
There is no official news about the release date of season 4. There has been a lot of talk over the show releasing in 2020, but that seems off right now.
The show will have a fourth season and scriptwriter, Yuki Sugawara, responded to a lot of inquiries at AnimagiC 2019 about the chance of the fourth season, and he said that he wants to do it and yet it’s not all in his grasp.
We also came to know some issues with the production house being busy and not giving enough time to the show, and with the coronavirus delaying everything we can only hope that the show is renewed in 2021 at least.
Season 4 Story
Season three finished on the ninth volume of the manga and the fourth season, therefore, will cover volumes ten and eleven. There are certainly going to be governmental issues since the guild master Ainz will attempt to select swashbucklers and Ainz will be much more powerful for sure. We expect Overlord season 4 will also present added fandoms and characters to improve the storyline.
In the previous season of Overlord, fans got the thrill of Return of the Great Tomb of Nazarick and we expect Overlord to bring twice the adventure and thrice the action in its next season.
