The series gives us a grim reminder why Vader is one of the scariest villains ever
Episode 3 of Obi-Wan Kenobi is out, and we have finally gotten a clear look at Darth Vader. The character has appeared numerous times in the past, but something or the other always prevented him from going on to his full potential. Technical limitations or age restrictions have interfered with his reign of terror. It is also a fact that his black armor and robotic, yet chilling voice provided by James Earl Jones made him an icon. His evil deeds are mentioned outside of the frame, and are not happening in front of us. But that has changed. Read on.
Darth Vader Arrives!
Obi-Wan Kenobi has now shown the scariest iteration of Darth Vader yet. The Vader we saw in episode 3 is someone who is ruthless, powerful, and kills innocent without even blinking. We have seen, or rather, seen the implication that Anakin has slain a lot of people. However, fans usually jumped to his defense, saying he was corrupted by the Dark Side, and that there is still good. In episode 3, we see Vader choking a child to death using the force. We hear the child’s neck snap, and cries of the parents. All this just to show his old master Obi-Wan that he has no regard for life. We can see that people have every right to fear and despise him.
We then see Darth Vader coming across Obi-Wan in the desert. Instead of killing him right away, Vader starts a small cat-and-mouse game, relishing on the fear he’s causing in Kenobi. He finally proceeds to drag Obi-Wan across fire, similar to how Anakin got burned by the lava of Mustafar. Obi-Wan barely survived with small burns due to outside interference.
With all this said, we are glad to see Disney really stretching that PG-13 rating, and giving us the true Darth Vader experience. Check out all three episodes on Disney+.
