A mini TV series, The Search is a true story about a girl, aged 4 years, named Paulette Gebara Farah who was disabled and had lost her voice and was primarily taken care of by two nannies. Paulette died in 2010 in Mexico City. She was alleged though of being kidnapped from her place after her mother reported her missing. Throughout the investigation, several revelations take place which was a mere act to complicate the case even further.
The search for Paulette’s death
The reason behind Paulette being kidnapped was thought to be their family’s wealth and the reason could possibly be to get a handsome ransom. however, after she went missing, there was nothing stolen from their home. The reason had to be different. The story takes a sharp turn when the investigation starts, the girl’s mother and the two nannies were reporting different stories from their ends and hence were taken under police custody. The child was found dead in her bedroom, stuck between the mattresses and the bed frame.
Paulette had slept with an orthopedic cloth in her mouth and was thought of the reason behind her suffocation and eventually death. What became more surprising was that she was laid dead in her bedroom, however, no one spotted her until more than a week into that case. The doubt went to Farah, the nun who was suffering from a financial crisis. Her body was exhumed and cremated in 2019, many years down the line. Her mother filed a lawsuit against the state of Mexico which was never taken up further in time.
The crime series is available on Netflix for streaming and watching for the keen fans to see the recreation of her death. A terrible way to experience death and an even saddening story.
