9 Must-See Thrillers on Netflix Right Now (May 2025) – Us Weekly

Maika Monroe stars as Julia, a woman being stalked in Bucharest in the tense thriller Watcher. Julia already felt like a stranger in a strange land when she moved to Bucharest with her husband, Francis (Karl Glusman). But she can’t escape the sensation that she’s always being watched. Torchwood’s Burn Gorman gives a creepy performance as Daniel Weber, the man Julia believes is stalking her. Daniel claims that Julia is the one harassing him, which the police find more convincing than her story. There is a serial killer on the loose, and even Julia has some reason to believe that she may be the next target.
Last Breath: A Survival Thriller Based on a True Story
Woody Harrelson and Simu Liu headline our first selection, which came out earlier this year. The remaining films are a pair of thrillers that largely went under the radar in 2024, but they’re getting a second chance on streaming to find the audience they deserve.
Last Breath is a survival thriller based on a true story about a trio of deep-sea divers. In 2012, Duncan Allcock (Harrelson), David Yuasa (Liu) and Chris Lemons (Finn Cole) are on a routine maintenance mission to look after underwater gas lines when an accident leaves Lemons entangled below and separated from the support ship that brought them there. Lemons only has ten minutes of breathable air left in his tank, which leads Allcock, Yuasa and the crew of the ship scrambling in a race against time to locate and free him. Simultaneously, the safety of the ship is also at risk, and dropping anchor could trigger an environmental disaster if it ruptures the gas lines. Last Breath is streaming on Peacock.

Strange Darling: A Wickedly Original Thriller with Willa Fitzgerald
Willa Fitzgerald is currently headlining Netflix’s new medical romance show, Pulse, but her breakthrough performance came a year earlier in the wickedly original thriller Strange Darling. The name of Fitzgerald’s character is never revealed, but the lady is introduced as the potential victim of a serial killer who desperately needs help to escape.
Writer and director J.T. Mollner slowly peels back the facts surrounding the lady by laying out her story in a non-linear fashion. She’s quite open about being fearful of serial killers and, paradoxically, eager to roleplay the victim of a killer. This lady’s secrets are particularly lethal, but she may have very good reasons to believe that someone will try to kill her. Strange Darling is streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime.

The Last Stop in Yuma County: A Refreshingly Different Thriller
Writer/director Francis Galluppi’s The Last Stop in Yuma County is a refreshingly different kind of thriller that’s set in the ’70s. Jim Cummings leads the cast as an unnamed knife salesman who just wants to get to California to see his kid. But as long as the local gas station is out of fuel, he’s stuck in a nearby diner with a waitress named Charlotte (Jocelin Donahue). That wouldn’t be so bad if the duo weren’t also trapped with a pair of violent bank robbers, Travis (Nicholas Logan) and Beau (Richard Brake). The salesman and Charlotte are the only ones who know about the robbers, but their lives are threatened before the regular customers start entering the diner. If they don’t keep their mouths shut, Travis and Beau are more than willing to start killing innocent people. But as the situation gets more intense, the salesman and Charlotte won’t have the luxury of simply hoping they’ll be left alive. If they want to go home, they’re gonna have to fight for their lives. The Last Stop in Yuma County is streaming on Netflix.
