Jerry and Disney are going ahead to film “National Treasure 3” with the screenwriter Chris Bremner tapped to write the script.
Nicholas Cage, who is the mature cryptologist Benjamin Franklin Gates, starred in the film “National treasure”. It was released in 2004 and pulled in $247 million worldwide. In 2007 the cast returned for the sequel. Cage, Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha, Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel, and Armando Riesc appeared in the movie “National treasure: Book of Secrets”.
The sequel pulled $457 million worldwide. It ended with the characters at “Page 47” of a secret book. It is reported that Jerry Bruckheimer is reportedly producing the upcoming movie. But he didn’t respond at all.
Bremner has signed to write a fourth “Bad Boys” for Sony with Jerry producing. Jerry Bruckheimer produced the three “Bad Boys” & the two” National Treasure” movies.
Disney Chief Bob Iger spoke about the prospects for “National Treasure 3” at annual shareholders meetings in 2016 & 2019. Bob Iger said last year, “I know that Jerry Bruckheimer who produced National Treasure 1 and 2 would like to make a third movie and I know that discussions about that film have gone on, probably since 2016, with our studio, but I know that they have not greenlit such a film.”
“They have talked about a number of different possibilities both on the creative side and from a timing perspective and I just don’t have anything to announce, though I did speak with Mr. Bruckheimer not long ago about it and I know his passion for that franchise remains pretty strong.”
He added, “We love those first two films too, but we’re not quite there yet.” Bob was an associate producer also on “The Wedding Ringer” & he is represented by UTA and Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment.
