Megalo Box is a 2018 anime series. It was made in commemoration of the boxing manga Ashita no Joe. The first season premiered on April 6, 2018 with 13 episodes.
Megalo Box tells the story of Junk Dog aka Joe in a futuristic Japan. The story is set in futuristic setting where licensed, wealthy citizens live in the city and the unlicensed, poor citizens live in the outskirts and slums. Megalo Boxing is a popular sport there. They are similar to boxing, but they are more lethal because the boxers don a metal frame in the fight.
Joe aka Junk Dog fights without any metal gear, which gives him a nickname ‘Gearless’ Joe. Yuri on the other hand, has an ‘integrated’ Gear which is surgically fitted into his arms.

Possible story line for the season 2 of Megalo Box?
The second season is going to be set seven years after the events of the first season. The sequel will mark the return of Joe aka Junk Dog and Yuri. In the last episode, Yuri was seen on a wheel chair, and Joe was seen delivering some packages.
Seeing Yuri on a wheel chair, raises a question whether he will be able to even walk again or not? What exactly transpired in the one year after the fight? Has Joe given up on Megalo Boxing? All these questions can only be answered in the next season, which hopefully premieres soon.
