Based on the manga bearing the name Knights of Sidonia was written by Tsutomu Nihei back in 2009 and the series converted in the series show. The series has had 2 parts already released and now fans are awaiting the third season, down the line.
Not only has the series gained positive responses from the fans in the audience, but also the critics.
Plot
Knights of Sidonia dates to the year 3394, far in the future. The alien race Gauna had nearly terminated the human-life. Trying to escape the oppressive regime, many spaceships had left to escape the genocide like circumstances that were led to.
Sidonia too wanted to escape and was attacked by the alien, at that time, he builds a group of large mecha robots who guard him to let him flee safely, and hence the name Knights of Sidonia.
Nagate – The main character

The story seems incomplete without the role of Nagate, a well-wisher of Sidonia who was brought up by his grandparents who taught him techniques to fight battles that inspires Sidonia to recruit him into his army of making a commencement at attacking the alien.
What happened in the second season?
After the defeat of the alien species, Nagate becomes one of the most admired personnel of Sidonia and gets promoted to a pilot.

The second season was more advance in terms of the success achieved by the army. with the help of Nagate, Sidonia can wipe out the leftover army of the alien and manages victory in many battles fought between the two sides.
What is the confusion regarding the release date?
At first, in 2017, the shooting of the season was confirmed which made us estimate it’s release in 2019. With half of 2020 passed by, there are still no signs of the final date of release. since this season has to cover nearly half the left-over story, fans guess that the length of this season would be longer than before which explains the delay.
