Kim Kardashian’s Prison Reform Journey Continues

Kim Kardashian continued her prison reform journey on the latest episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians, and included a rather surprising story as well.
The 44-year-old took her half-sister Kendall Jenner and friends Scott Disick and Olivia Pierson to Growlersburg Conservation Camp, in northern California. They’re joined by Scott Budnick, founder of the Anti-Recidivism Coalition, who Kim has worked with for years, following news she’s rebranding her SKIMS line.
The segment was prefaced with a title card revealing the episode was shot in 2024, before the massive wildfires spread throughout Los Angeles in early 2025.
Kim, Kendall, Scott and Olivia met several of the inmates at the camp, one of whom asked how she got into prison reform in the first place. She then offered a tale from her misspent youth, revealing a situation she found herself in when she was younger that reminded her of a drug mule she met during her first prison visit.
Kim said that Scott Budnick took her to her first prison visit, where she met a woman whose boyfriend basically turned her into a drug mule.
“I sat in a room like this and this one girl said, ‘My boyfriend had me go get drugs or pick something up at this apartment and I didn’t know some st was going to go down and someone died,'” Kim began.
She added, “I thought to myself, ‘Oh my God. One time, my friend had me go pick up like ecstasy at this apartment, and what if something happened?’ I literally thought that,'” Kim said, as Kendall started to laugh.
Kendall told Olivia, ‘She’s so Elle Woods right now,’ referring to Reese Witherspoon’s beloved character in Legally Blonde, as Kim continued, ‘I don’t want to name names. I’m getting myself in trouble here,’ as Kendall kept laughing.
Kim admitted if something would have happened, she could have called her father, but these people didn’t have anything like that.
“I really just thought to myself, this is so crazy. These people need help. The more I got into it, the more I heard stories. It gets so overwhelming because every part of the system is so f*ed up,” as Scott Budnick added, ‘Except for fire camp.’
Kim admitted that her passion for prison reform probably started with her father Robert, ‘and all the giving back he did.’

Fire Camps: A Pathway to Redemption
Budnick explains to everyone that since ‘forever’ they have had fire camps within the prison system, where inmates can suit up and fight fires once they progress with good behavior within the prison system.
“You can actually spend the last two to three years of incarceration in a fire camp in the woods with no fence, going out every day with CalFire and battling the biggest fires that are destroying entire communities,” Scott adds.
He explains that the fire camps are a way for inmates to earn better living conditions and even early release from prison.
Kim Kardashian Takes a Crucial Step Towards Becoming an Attorney in California
Kim Kardashian is getting closer to becoming an attorney in the state of California. TMZ reported on Friday that the 44-year-old reality TV diva has taken a ‘pivotal test that’s required to practice law.’
The mother of four took the MPRE – Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination – on Wednesday, the site claimed. The location was at a testing center in Alhambra, California, and Kim had to go in alone like any other regular person.
The test is a key test on legal ethics and professional conduct. The site also shared that the test is necessary if she wants to take the bar.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians veteran passed the ‘baby bar’ exam in 2021 and reportedly plans to take the bar in 2026.
How Her Law Studies May Help Her in Her Custody Battle with Kanye West
Kim’s law studies may be coming in handy in time for a showdown with Kanye West; seen in 2019
In 2018 Kim started her dream of wanting to become a lawyer like her father, the late Robert Kardashian who worked on OJ Simpson’s case.
She started her law apprenticeship in the state of California in mid 2019.
Kim is smart to study the law, not just because she owns so many businesses like SKIMS and SKKN, but she also has some issues with her ex-husband Kanye West.
Kardashian is reportedly considering changing her custody agreement with West after he released a song featuring their eldest daughter, North, without her approval.
According to TMZ, Kardashian is seriously debating taking West – who now goes by Ye – to court to request a judge strip him of joint legal custody.
The former couple, who married in 2014, settled their divorce in 2022, agreeing to joint physical and legal custody of their four children: North, 11, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and five-year-old Psalm.
Physical custody is reportedly not an issue, as Kanye rarely sees his children, and Kim still wants them to have a good relationship with their father.
However, decision-making regarding the children has become a point of contention, TMZ’s report said.
The former couple’s divorce agreement states they must attend a private hearing with a judge if conflicts arise regarding their children.
The mother of four requested an emergency hearing with their lawyers, a mediator, and a judge after learning Kanye planned to release a song featuring North and rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

Kim requested an emergency hearing with their lawyers, a mediator, and a judge after learning Kanye planned to release a song featuring North and rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
Although Kanye skipped the meeting, he reportedly agreed not to release the track, titled Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine.
However, the rapper released the song on X the following day, declaring men ‘make the final decision.’
He also shared a text exchange with Kim, in which she opposed their daughter’s involvement with Combs, who is currently facing legal issues.
Kim apparently texted Kanye: ‘I asked you at the time if I can trademark her name. You said yes. When she’s 18, it goes to her. So stop. ‘I sent paperwork over so she wouldn’t be in the Diddy song to protect her.’
Kanye responded by asking Kim to ‘amend’ the legal papers or risk ‘going to war.’
He added: ‘And neither of us will recover from the public fallout. You’re going to have to kill me.’
Kanye later posted a lengthy rant on X, accusing the ‘Kardashian mob’ of restricting his parental rights and likening their custody arrangement to ‘visitation’ in ‘jail’
An insider told Page Six: ‘Kim’s priority is that she wants to have a good relationship with her children, and for them to have a good relationship with Kanye.’
Conclusion
In her recent visit to a California prison, reality TV star Kim Kardashian West made headlines by sharing a harrowing account of her experience as a ‘drug mule’. According to reports, the 41-year-old was part of a program that allowed inmates to earn money by smuggling contraband into the facility. Kardashian West revealed that she was initially hesitant but eventually accepted the role, stating that she did it to demonstrate the severity of the issue and bring attention to the problem. However, her involvement sparked controversy, with many criticizing her decision to participate.
The significance of Kardashian West’s experience lies in its ability to shed light on the harsh realities of prison life and the often-overlooked issue of contraband smuggling. Her participation in the program serves as a stark reminder of the desperation that can drive individuals to engage in such activities. Furthermore, it raises questions about the role of celebrities in raising awareness about social issues and the potential consequences of their actions. As the conversation around prison reform and rehabilitation continues, Kardashian West’s experience highlights the need for more nuanced discussions about the complexities of the issue.
