Fans rejoice as Johnny Depp is set to return as King Louis XV
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor has not acted in any films for a long time. Domestic violence accusations by his ex-wife Amber Heard might have resulted in the actor losing his roles in movies. There is good news for all Johnny Depp fans. According to Satellifax, an online French portal, the actor is returning on the big screen! He will be portraying the role of King Louis XV in an unknown project.
His second role in the past two years
The time has not been in favour of the 58-year-old actor for the past few years. Depp was previously replaced as Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts by Warner Bros. In 2020, Depp also appeared in Minamata, a biography in which he played the role of an American photographer, Eugene Smith. It’s about time the popular actor will be back playing a king and the fans couldn’t be any happier!
No details about the movie revealed
Not much is known about this French project except the few basics. It is known that the historical drama will be directed by Maiwenn, the french director of Mon Roi, who also won the Jury Prize for the drama Polisse. The historical drama will begin its shooting from 8 July in the summer in Versailles. The shoot location will also cover a part around Paris in all its glory. This has been reported by Hollywood Reporter. Despite the little details that we have, we are in very high spirits!
The characters roles in the much-awaited drama
the role played by Johnny Depp is of Louis the Beloved (Louis XV) who ruled in France for 59 years, succeeding his great grandfather Louis XIV, when he was just five. The actions of the king were quite contrary to his nickname. He was accused of constant corruption and revelry. It is very obvious why the director chose Depp for this role. The director of the movie, Maiwenn, will be playing the mistress of King Louis XV. This movie would be the actor’s first movie in French. Hopefully, we’ll get to see a glimpse of the trailer soon after its filming!
