Ever since Marvel Studios announced that there will be female Thor next in the next installment of the solo Thor Saga, all hell broke loose. Some were not all happy with the decision being too attached to Chris Hemsworth’s portrayal. But others welcomed the change.
There was a lot of speculation and excitement about who will be the actress taking up the role of Thor. The Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige finally officially announced the star. Oscar-winner Natalie Portman is playing the role of the female Thor in the upcoming movie Thor: Love and Thunder.
In the original Thor comics, Jane Foster is handed the great Mjolnir after Thor becomes unworthy of it. She is also suffering from breast cancer in the marvel story. The deadly illness is temporarily stopped by the power of Mjolnir. But her human form is still battling cancer as the chemotherapy slowly stops working because of her transformations.
The fourth installment in the Thor saga is being directed by Taika Waititi. And now that fans know who is the new Thor, they have another question – Will the breast cancer storyline be included in the movie? According to Waititi, they don’t know yet.
They may include cancer as part of the movie’s plot. But the writers might also do a 180 and completely get rid of the illness story arc in the movie. Or, it might be a different disease than breast cancer altogether. Bottom line: Nothing is certain as of yet.
