Director James Gunn has just announced that the crew are done filming for “The Suicide Squad” and its officially a wrap!
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, the writer-filmmaker said that he shot for the film during a “hard” yet “most fulfilling” time in his personal life.
“And that’s a wrap on #TheSuicideSquad,” Gunn wrote.
In the instagram post Gunn wrote that his father had died two weeks before they had started filming and his dog had died two weeks before the end of the shoot. It was a hard, hard time in his life and yet the most fulfilling time he had ever had making a movie. The, talent, compassion, professionalism and kindness of the cast and crew inspired him every day. He further added that he was grateful from the bottom of his heart for us all. The fans are the reason why he makes movies.
James Gunn thanked everyone involved in each and every aspect of the film.
Margot Robbie is expected to reprise her role as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Squad mastermind Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag.
We can also expect to see some new faces Idris Elba, John Cena, Nathan Fillion, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Taika Waititi and Pete Davidson.
Reportedly Will Smith’s Deadshot will not return due to problems in schedule. Earlier Gunn had teased that fans shouldn’t get too attached to the cast, hinting that the film may have to get rid off some of the key cast members.
The project was branded as a relaunch. It will also see Gunn’s reunion with his “Guardian of the Galaxy” actor Michael Rooker and his brother Sean Gunn.
The film will drop on August 2021.
