Is season 5 of ‘The Good Place’ not coming anymore? Has Michael Schur decided to end the fantasy comedy? Read to know the answer and the reason behind it.

The Good place is a sitcom created by Michael Schur, who is known for his magnificent work on shows like The Office, Parks and Recreation. It is based on the supposition after death. Upon the show’s debut debut back in 2016, it received critical acclaim.  Season four has already aired on NBC network in September 2019. Season four seems to be the last season of this franchise. Season four is expected to be on Netflix in early 2020. NBC is on the verge of launching their own channel probably that’s the reason why it is not yet on Netflix.

Down below is a list of things that the viewers can expect from Season 5 if the NBC sitcom were to be renewed for a fifth season.

The Good place started with Elenaor (Kristen Bell) when she found herself in afterlife which looked quite similar to a beautiful utopia. One of the many reasons why the show is called “Good Place’. Eleanor met Chidi (William Jackson Harper), Tahani (Jameela Jamil), and Jason (Manny Jacinto) which very well knowing that she did not deserve a place in a utopia like afterlife. It was later revealed that the quadrivium was actually in a “Bad Place” while being manipulated by Michael (Ted Danson). As the show progressed we saw that the foursome aligned with Michael and created Good place guide, Janet(D’arcy Carden), in fighting the current afterlife structure.

A few months after season four was released at NBC. Schur said that the fourth season would be the last instalment. The 14-episode season is the final nail to the coffin of the fantasy sitcom. As a tribute to the fans the finale of season 4 was extended to 90 minutes. Season four’s “Whenever You’re Ready” is probably the last part of Eleanor, Chidi, Jason and Tahini’s adventure in the afterlife.

Keeping in mind the sitcom’s good and steady ratings on NBC, many viewers might be disappointed to know that there won’t be season 5. The decision to end The Good Place was rather a creative decision that NBC held in high regard. Apparently Schur and the writers shared the story that they desired to sketch, which is why season 5 wasn’t required.
