“History of the Occult” Streaming Rights Picked up by Netflix and HBO Max! Details Inside

Netflix and HBO Max acquire the streaming rights of the upcoming film, ‘History of the Occult’

Based on a simple storyline but with some peculiar aspects, History of the Occult is one of the much-awaited films. As per the latest sources, Netflix and Warner Bros. media’s HBO Max seized up the streaming rights of the upcoming film.

Netflix and HBO Max to stream in different regions

As revealed by the CEO of Buenos Aires-based sales and production company FilmSharks International, Guido Rud, Netflix reportedly obtained the streaming rights of the film for Spain and Latin America. Moreover, the streaming platform plans a release the film, History of the Occult on October 15. On the other hand, the Central European streaming rights of the movie have been picked up by HBO Max

Apart from Netflix and HBO Max, FilmSharks International’s CEO also reported that Eurozoom acquired all the French rights of the film. Further, Eurozoom is currently in plans of a theatrical release of the film in early 2022. Film Sharks acquired the worldwide and remake rights of the film in May 2021.

History of the Occult: Plot

History of the Occult is termed as an Argentine political horror film. Set in the 1980s, the film occurs during the final broadcast of “60 Minutes Before Midnight”, one of the top news shows on TV. The story follows a group of journalists up against the clock to convince their lead guest to expose a political conspiracy. The political ploy allegedly involves their crafty government and another mob. The History of the Occult is reportedly filmed in black and white making it even more peculiar. 

Cast

History of the Occult marks the feature debut of Christian Ponce. Ponce is popular for his Netflix animated series The Kirlian Frequency that bagged several awards. While the veteran Argentine actor, German Baudino, plays the lead guest, Adrian Marcato, on the news show. German Baudino’s popular works are Abrakadabra, Los Olvidados and Dia de los Muertos.
