The popular High School Musical franchise is getting revived for a new TV series entitled High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
Disney will launch the series on its streaming service Disney+ this coming November.
Certainly, this has made all the fans excited!
Will the original cast return?
But Disney has said that this is neither a reboot nor a sequel. Rather, it’s the start of something new.
The first trailer was launched at the D23 Expo on Friday, August 23. Besides, the new cast stars- Joshua Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, Kate Reinders, Sofia Wylie, Matt Cornett, Dara Renee, Julia Lester, Frankie Rodriguez, and Larry Saperstein.
Further, the series is set as a mockumentary. The Musical: The Series follows the lives of a new set of East High drama club members, competitively vying for roles for the school’s first production of High School Musical.
The trailer, as expected, isn’t all that rainbows and butterflies. Romances will brew and friendships will form, but the journey will also be tested by rivalries and love triangles in the process. There are throwbacks to HSM’s iconic songs as well!
It will be a 10-episode young adult series. The executive producers are Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush.
This duo was behind the original High School Musical films. Alongside them is Oliver Goldstick (Pretty Little Liars, Ugly Betty).
Meanwhile, the choreography will be provided by Zach Woodlee (Glee, Dumplin‘).
High School Musical: The Series will premiere on November 12 on Disney+.
The announcement was made at D23 Expo where Disney announced three Marvel shows, whereas several of it’s own shows that will be available on the streaming service.
