Anna Wong was considered to be the first Chinese American Actress who had gained international recognition. She claimed her first leading role in 22nd January 1922 in the silent film The Toll of the Sea. Her acting in the film had reached to American audiences.

Sophie Diao was the artist of the slideshows who stated that she wished she knew of Anna Wong when she was a child looking Chinese American role models in Hollywood. She further stated that Asian American Actors are underrepresented even now,so amazingly Anna May Wong was so active right at the beginning of the film history, bridging the gap between silent films and talkies. The artist also first learn about Anna through working on Doodle.
