We will not see season 3 of Netflix’s Mindhunter anytime soon.
Mindhunter is a psychological crime thriller based on the book penned by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker. Season 3 of Mindhunter is put on hold and we don’t know for how long. A Netflix representative came out with a statement saying “David is focused on directing his first Netflix film Mank and on producing the second season of Love, Death, and Robots”.
The Gone Girl director is presently working on his directorial debut on the streaming service Mank. It is a biopic of the Citizen Kane screenplay writer Herman J Mankiewicz which is being played by the academy award winner actor Gary Oldman. The representative also adds that”He may revisit Mindhunter in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn’t fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own”. This seems to be the reason why the cast Jonathon Groff, Holt McCallany and Anna Torv were let off from their contracts.
Netflix has been seen in the past for scrapping shows after 2 to 3 seasons like The Punisher and Jessica Jones. However, Mindhunter is not cancelled and will much to the fans’ delight.
The second instalment saw Holden Ford, Bill Tench and Dr.Wendy Carr once again tasked with talking to the nation’s most feared serial killers to understand and sketch out their psychology. The FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit in this season is seen heavily focused on the Atlanta child murders.
Season 2 released nearly 2 years after season1 and we surely know season 3 is going to be worth the wait.
