It seems like Dolly Parton is celebrating a half-century of being an official Grand Ole Opry member with “Dolly Parton: 50 Years at the Opry,” a two-hour special that will air tonight on NBC.
Dolly Parton opened up about her experience and said that a lot of people are thinking it is her 50th year, although, in reality, it is her 60th year. She started performing on the Opry when she was thirteen years old!

Dolly recollected that previous moment when she became a member after she was working with The Porter Wagoner Show. —That is when she actually got to be a member 50 years ago this year. She said that it was one of the highlights of her life as her dreams came true.
Moreover, all throughout the anniversary special, artists across generations will pay tribute to Parton by performing selections from her storied catalog. Lady Antebellum opens the special with Parton’s iconic duet with Kenny Rogers, “Islands in the Stream,” which is one of the first songs they sang together at a karaoke bar in Nashville after forming as a trio in 2006. Harris, who also collaborated with Parton and Linda Ronstadt on the 1987 album “Trio,” delivers a mesmerizing acoustic rendition of “To Daddy,” while Price lends her angelic voice to sing The Seeker.
