Dancing with the Stars: This is the reason why Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews might not come back on the show again.

Looks like the hosts will be hanging up their dancing shoes soon

ABC’s Dancing With the Stars will now be proceeding without its hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews. The news wasn’t surprising just for the watchers, but for Tom Bergeron as well, as he revealed in a tweet that the show will be continuing without him.

He expressed his gratitude for the 15 years he got to spend hosting it and for all the friends he made, while working there. He ended the tweet with a joke by saying, “That said, now what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?”

A new approach

Bergeron had been part of the show since 2005, and had earned nine Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Reality Host and won it in 2012. As per a report by USA Today, his co-host Erin Andrews has also been dismissed from the show. Andrews had been part of the show since 2013, after replacing former co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet.

So why is ABC letting the hosts go? According to ABC and production company BBC Studios, the show will be going for a “new creative direction” for their 29th season which is in the works.

In a statement on Monday, the studios stated that Tom Bergeron will forever be part of the Dancing with the Stars family, and that he will be departing with their sincerest thanks, for always hosting with his charm and wit, which contributed to the show’s success. They also thanked Erin for her contributions.

In response to a tweet from Randy Rainbow, Bergeron joked that he can now be free for their socially distanced lunch. We wish the hosts a great success in their future endeavours.
