The body positivity symbol Bebe Rexha came out as a champion at the red carpet of MTV Video Music Awards on Monday night. She embraced the red carpet with a silver gown covered cuts- outs. She revealed that her dress was made by Christian Siriano.
Rexha told Access Hollywood that, “I picked out this VMA look two hours ago.” Her publicist also confirmed that Bebe Rexha’s dress was made in just two hours including the first fitting to the red carpet.
This last-minute look was the result of the hectic schedule of touring with Jonas brothers. She also said Christian Siriano’s work was “so incredible, so inclusive” that’s why she loved wearing his designs.
She also said about the designer that he appreciates and loves all body types which she likes a lot about him.
Bebe Rexha is quite open and straight forward on how women are treated in the music industry due to their body shape and size. She claims to love all the body types. She feels that not everyone in life can be “size zero” and there is nothing wrong with that.
The American singer said, “I’m a curvy girl. I grew up thinking I had to be a pop star that was super skinny, I’m not that.”
The 29-year-old singer received an award for Best Dance Award for her collaboration with The Chainsmokers on the song, “Call You Mine.”
Rexha has made to headlines a lot of time for her strong take on gender equality and body positivity. She had admitted struggling for accepting herself as she was.
Taylor Swift has been quite supportive of Bebe Rexha in her fight against sexism in India. Rexha had even expressed her gratitude to Taylor for supporting her. She said she freaked out when she got to know that Taylor supported her.
