I am heartbroken and devastated beyond belief at the loss of my mom, Paige Heard. She left us too early, clasping onto the memory of her beautiful, gentle soul. She will be missed from the very depths of our hearts forever. Her unflinching, open heart made her the most beautiful woman I had ever known. It’s hard to imagine and even more difficult to say but I feel truly lucky to have been her daughter and been given the gift of having the light she shone on everyone, fall on me for nearly 34 years. This has been an unbelievably painful time but in that, I am reminded of what survives us all, love. The kindness, support and generosity my sister Whit and I have received from friends and family has been utterly soul-saving.

The actress shared in March 2019 about coming out as bisexual to her parents, who accepted her after not understanding in the beginning. She spoke about how she was raised in a religious family in Austin, Texas. She spoke about how she grew up as an outspoken lesbian, atheist, and vegetarian in that religious home. And while her parents didn’t exactly open up to her at the start, since this was completely opposite to the ways they were familiar with, they did warm up to her in the next five years.

The actress had family troubles during this course but refused to display any negative emotions or speak ill about them but took the slow route towards getting their acceptance and, in the end, asked them to come over for an awards function where she was receiving an award. And that was it.
