A Sad Goodbye for Anne as ‘Anne With An E’ gets cancelled

‘Anne With An E’ is a Canadian drama series which is based on a novel written by Lucy Maud Montgomery with the title ‘Anne of Green Cables’. The show is based in the late 19th century and revolves around two siblings  Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, both over the hill,  who choose to take on an abandoned kid to assist around their hereditary ranch of Green Gables, on the edges of the town of Avonlea, on Prince Edward Island.

Even after three successful seasons, we’ll have to bid farewell to Anne as the producers of the show have officially confirmed that the show wraps up in Season 3.

Moira Walley- Beckett, the showrunner recently took to Instagram to share something about the show.

The Week

Although the show managed to gather a lot of fan bases, still the show couldn’t save itself from cancellation. The real reason behind the cancellation is still not clear. It is reported that CBC’ s President Catherine Tait communicated her disappointment with Netflix and inferred that Canadian premiums were the top need.

For this, the president has her justification saying that “Several countries have done deals, as we did, with Netflix … and over time we start to see that we’re feeding the growth of Netflix, or we’re feeding the growth of Amazon, rather than feeding our own domestic business and industry.”
