The 1969 music defining music festival, Woodstock is going to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The celebration of the anniversary would be made in the same manner the Woodstock had started 50 years earlier by playing its playlist precisely after 50 years. Moreover, hence, the name of the festive is Woodstock-As It Happened- 50 Years on which will be presented by Philadelphia– based public radio station WXPN from August 15th to August 18th. The replay would represent Woodstock “as it happened” at Max Yasgur’s farm in Upstate New York. The first broadcast would be made on August 15, 5:07 p.m. ET and carry on with it. Richie would do the opening of the show Havens syncing with the start of the festival 50 years prior. The festive would represent the minute by minute moment of the channel and would also announce the on-stage announcements and even tell about the event breaks between the artists and also, would stop in case of bad weather to keep the timing of the program and the channel together on sync.
The replay would consist of legendary performances by Janis Joplin, The Who, Grateful Dead, Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Crosby, Stills, Nah & Young and 32 more performances. The whole program of such legendary performances is possible in part due to Rhino Entertainment’s upcoming Back To The Garden Woodstock 50th anniversary collection. The massive box set by producers Andy Sax and Brain Chew which is a 14-year restoration was released earlier this month.
WXPN is going to air the tribute to the music of the 1969 era which would be one of the greatest tributes ever. The Associate General Manager, along with describing the tribute to be the greatest one, also said that it would be executed in life as it was performed in the set.
