Eva Longoria Discusses her Directorial, ‘Flamin’ Hot Cheetos’ and New Tequila Company

The actor/ director shares her biggest challenges

Eva Longoria is busy with the promotion of her Directorial debut, Flamin Hot. The movie tells the story of Richard Montañez, the man who was mainly credited for the creation of the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.

When asked about the toughest challenge she faced, Longoria answers, “The New Mexico heat.” She recalled the five months she spent shooting her movie, saying it was so hot, the asphalt melted underneath their camera trucks.

The real challenge

She then spoke about the real challenge, which was that opportunity is not equally distributed. When that happens, as it usually does, you will need to work twice as hard and twice as long and be twice as good, according to Longoria. Perseverance is a key element, and she calls the movie an American Dream 101. In conclusion, the movie is about a person’s perspective and struggle within themselves.

Montañez was embroiled in controversy earlier this year when a story by Los Angeles Times claimed that he exaggerated his involvement in creating the legendary flavour. He told Variety  later that he was their greatest ambassador. He added, “You’re going to love your company more than they will ever love you.”

Longoria added that she stands by Montañez.

Longoria has started yet another business venture, this time co-founding Casa Del Sol tequila, earlier this month. The management committee mostly consists of women. Longoria stated that her mission was always to uplift the voices of women and celebrate them.

When asked about her favourite drink, Longoria replied that it is a Mexican Mule – a combination of Moscow mule and tequila.

Longoria had also spoken about her disappointment at her home state Texas’ new abortion laws. She said that things can only get worse if such matters aren’t paid serious attention.
