‘Better Call Saul’ Star Rhea Seehorn Reuniting With Series Creator Vince Gilligan For New Project

    Published on

Gilligan’s next series will be an Apple TV+ original

Better Call Saul had recently wrapped up and was robbed of an Emmy yet again. However, that didn’t stop it from becoming one of the most beloved shows in modern times. But with that, the Breaking Bad universe has come to an end, for now. Vince Gilligan, who created Breaking Bad and co-created Better Call Saul with Peter Gould, has struck a deal at Apple TV+.

While Better Call Saul is in Gilligan’s rear-view mirror, the brilliant writer has called upon one of the standout performers for his new show – Rhea Seehorn. Seehorn truly gave the performance of a lifetime as Kim Wexler in the AMC series. Deadline confirmed the news that the two have joined forces again. The new project is described as a “blended, grounded genre drama.” Gilligan said that this will be his break from writing antiheroes, since the Breaking Bad universe began in 2008 and ran for the next 14 years. This gave a hint that Seehorn’s character will be shown in a heroic light and not constantly testing her moral compass.

Speaking about his work, Gilligan said that no one is more heroic than Rhea Seehorn and it is long past time that she had her own show. He feels lucky to be working with her as well as the other stars Zack Van Amburg, Jamie Erlicht, and Chris Parnell.

The massive success of Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad has ensured Vince his VIP treatment at Apple. The new series has already received a two-season order, even though its still in development. Some speculate that the new show will also deal with crime, but seeing how Gilligan presents things with fluidity and realism, it could be anything.
