Netflix is making a live-action Gundam movie with the director of Kong: Skull Island!

    Published on

Gundam is going to take the leap toward live-action amazingly — Legendary Pictures is chipping away at a feature film version of Sunrise’s staggeringly famous mech suit anime for Netflix, set to be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (most popular for his work on Kong: Skull Island.)

Gundam Movie Coming Soon Via Netflix

Legendary was first declared to be working with Sunrise on the live-action Gundam film in 2018, albeit the present news doesn’t reveal an excessive amount of insight into the forthcoming project, which just has a functioning title now.

Netflix hasn’t declared subtleties on who may be projected or what the plot will be (or regardless of whether the film will adjust any of the many distinctive anime curves, arrangement, and films that as of now exist in Sunrise’s establishment). Brian K. Vaughan is connected to the project as an author and leader maker, as well.

The project feels like an almost ideal mix of the subject, studio, and chief: Legendary has effectively delivered both Pacific Rim films (exclusively centered around massive mecha battles) just as the Godzilla/King Kong “Monsterverse” (most as of late covered off by Godzilla versus Kong, which likewise features a monster mecha.) And Vogt-Roberts is no more unusual to colossal fights, either, having recently directed Kong: Skull Island for Legendary.

Legendary Pictures, the studio behind Pacific Rim and the Godzilla and King Kong “Monsterverse” franchise, will be partnering with Sunrise for Netflix’s live-action project. No further details on the plot or the cast have been released. The upcoming film isn’t the first live-action adaptation of a Sunrise anime, though – Netflix is already working on a live-action version of Cowboy Bebop starring John Cho. That could be released as early as this year.
