Selena Gomez Files a Law Suit Against a Chinese Game for Illicitly Using her Face for their Branding

The extremely famous singer and actor Selena Gomez sued the makers of smartphone game that used her personality without permission. The game name is “The Clothes Forever Styling Game”. It lets you dress various avatars according to your will. This also includes starts such as Kardashians, Adele and Gigi.

However, Selena is taking legal actions against this application. The legal action says, its “reprehensible” and “gross violation” of her publicity rights. The jury has already taken the case and there will be trail soon. The document says of using names of celebrities for endorsement and attracting the audience under false advertisement.

The application however is taking advantage of famous personalities to advertise their game. The game advertises, “all the famous actors like Kardashian, Gigi, Beyonce and many more will be dropping by to take your fashion advise”. This does not even end here. It also involves these actors hooking up with other personalities like, Justin, Zac or Messi.

According to Gomez it not only harms her reputation but also be falsely used to market someone else’s fashion. In fact various china based companies are also involved with the distribution of this software. This can also harm their reputation as a brand. So companies like Guangzhou Feidong Software Technology Co, Forgame Holdings and UK registered Mutant Box Interactive Limited can come to a danger.

Back in 2014 also, Lindsay Lohan ( actor from Mean Girls) sued the makers of Grand Theft Auto V, to use her likeness without permission. The jury denied this sentence. Jury concluded that the pictures are only look alike and just using the style of the actor. It also concluded that, this is not a violation and is not harming her reputation.
