The famous Fast and Furious franchise released the trailer for the ninth installment in early 2020. The film makers had the release of the film in April 2020 for the US and a worldwide release in May 2020. But owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the dates have been pushed back to a year. It is now slated to release on April 2, 2021 in the US and in May 2021 globally.
What is in store for the fans with F9?
F9, previously known as Fast and Furious 9 will continue the story of Dominic Torreto and his family, as they face his younger brother Jakob – played by none other than John Cena. Jakob is an assasin working with Cypher, an old enemy of Toretto’s – played by Charlize Theron.
The movie continues after the events of the predecessor, The Fate of the Furious. The Fate of the Furious is the eight movie in the Fast and Furious franchise. It was released in 2017.
In F9, most of the old cast will be returing to reprise their roles. It is the first film since Fast & Furious 6 to be directed by Justin Lin. The Fast & Furious movies are collectively known as The Fast Saga.
F9 will see the return of Han. The makers or the actor have not yet disclosed the details of how Han Lue, played by Sung Kang.The final seconds of the trailer teased the return of Han Lue, who died in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
How are the directors going to justify Han’s return? What is Jakob’s story? Why are the Toretto brothers fighting each other? All of these and more questions will be answered in the upcoming F9 movie.
