Laura Dern’s Best Birthday Present! The Actress Wins Oscar For the Best Supporting Actress

How would you feel if you receive an unexpected birthday present before a night of your day?  Well if you want to know, see Laura Dern’s reaction while she bagged Best Supporting Actress award for her outstanding performance as Nora Fanshaw in Marriage Story. It’s astonishing and warming to know that actress took golden globe in 2020 home for the best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a Marriage story.

Though Dern’s predatory divorce lawyer was the most loved character in nomination. But the actress had to overcome competition from Kathy Bates in Richard Jewell and Little Women’s Florence Pugh. The film is written and directed by Noah Baumbach, led by Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson, who act as a couple going through a divorce. Dern plays a funny character who manipulates the situation and represents Johansson in the court.

In her acceptance speech, she thanked the director Baumbach for his “vision, magic and friendship”, her children, parents and everyone who stood by her. Dern won virtually every award for her performance. Actor lifted her first Oscar after two nominations before, for best actress in 1992 for Rambling Rose and best-supporting actress in 2015 for wild.

Netflix has grabbed the forum with its popularity and versatility in this award season. Netflix earned 24 nominations, primarily for ‘marriage story’ AND ‘The Irishman’. Both films have done well critically well in the industry and earned nominations in top tier categories including the Best Picture. Marriage Story successfully made it to nominations in six categories which had some of the serious and important ones. Including award for best actor and actress in which  co-actors of Dern were nominated
