MacGruber 2 is finally back to work on NBC and surprisingly, it comes out in a different form.
MacGruber 2 in the form of a series on NBC’s Peacock
On NBC’s new streaming platform, Peacock, the second chapter of MacGruber will be back in the form of a series. The upcoming show is set to launch in the latter half of this year. Will Forte is all set to return to reprise the role which he originated on Saturday Night Live’s episode that featured him. He came to the SNL before bringing himself to the big screen and is on his way to executive produce the series.
As per Jorma Taccone, on being asked in the month of February about the upcoming chapter of MacGruber, he was convinced with the idea that it will be in the form of series and opposed to another movie. In 2017, Taccone revealed that they had already begun writing a script but it never materialized as a movie. In the year 2010, Taccone was the director of the first part of MacGruber. Now he is set to write and produce the series alongside John Solomon with Lorne Michaels, John Goldwyn, Andrew Singer, and Erin David as the executive producers. NBC has released the upcoming series’ synopsis for the show.
The first movie of MacGruber was released theoretically in the year 2010 but the movie certainly did not capture much love at the time. Now it is on its way to bring something new for the viewers in the form of a cult comedy classic. The movie was made for a budget of $10 million but unfortunately, the comedy grossed just $9 million, in total, at the box office. With that, progress on a follow-up has been slow going and the project is being well discussed amongst the entire cast.
